On July 14, George Hargis, D-36681, joined USPA as USPA Social Media and Public Relations Manager. Hargis is taking on many of the duties of Director of Sport Promotion Shanon Searls, who is going on two months of maternity leave at the end of August and will return in a part-time capacity as USPA Sport Promotion Manager afterward. Both positions have folded into the Communications Department, putting both print and digital media, as well as sport-promotion efforts, under one umbrella.

Hargis will be a familiar face to many, as she has been the social media and marketing manager for Skydive Arizona in Eloy for the past four years. She is also a member of Pteam Pterodactyl, which will be representing the U.S. at the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale World Championships of Acrobatic Wingsuit Flying in October at Skydive Arizona. Those who haven’t met her will have their chance to do so in September at the USPA Nationals at Skydive Midwest in Sturtevant, Wisconsin, and Skydive Chicago in Ottawa, Illinois. While there, she will be coordinating national and local media coverage of the event for USPA, as well as competing with her team in acrobatic wingsuit flying. Jumpers can reach out to her via email at ghargis@uspa.org
