Keep An Eye Out
Wednesday, July 1, 2020

This wingsuit skydiver had a premature deployment on exit when his main deployment handle snagged on the cable that operates the door. Fortunately, his main canopy did not hit the tail of the aircraft, and it opened properly. He landed safely at the airport after a very long canopy ride.

Wingsuit flyers, or any jumpers who sit at the front of the plane and exit last, have the farthest to travel to the door on exit, which increases the chance of a snag. No matter where they sit, jumpers must guard their deployment handles carefully as they move around in and exit the aircraft.
