On September 3, the 2024 USPA National Championships of Canopy Piloting and Canopy Piloting-Freestyle came to a close at Skydive Paraclete XP in Raeford, North Carolina.

For the second straight year, Floridian Curt Bartholomew swooped his way to a sweep of all three events, winning the open-class gold in speed, zone accuracy, distance and the overall. He finished off the four days of competition by taking gold in the Canopy Piloting-Freestyle event.

Joining Bartholomew on the open-class overall podium was Jason Sanders, who rebounded tremendously from his injury at last year’s national championships by taking silver. These were his first competition jumps since the injury. In third, with the bronze, was Paraclete local Jesse Weyher.

Canopy Piloting-Freestyle, which featured more competitors than at any previous national championships, saw not one but two Bartholomews at the top of the open-class podium. Jeannie Bartholomew took silver in the event, with Justin Price earning the bronze.
